About me
Masataka Nakahara is an acoustician specializing in studio acoustic design and room acoustics R&D. After studying acoustics at the Kyushu Institute of Design, he began his professional career as an acoustic designer at SONA Corporation. He earned his Ph.D. in acoustics from Kyushu University in 2005 and founded ONFUTURE Ltd. For over 35 years, he has been instrumental in the design and construction of studios at SONA, while concurrently developing advanced room acoustic technologies at ONFUTURE. He also serves as an educator, teaching acoustics at the Tokyo University of the Arts and the Institute of Sound Arts.
A dedicated member of the professional community, Masataka Nakahara has contributed extensively to the Acoustical Society of Japan (ASJ) and the Audio Engineering Society (AES). Since 1992, he has frequently presented papers and led workshops at both ASJ meetings and AES conventions and conferences. His leadership roles within the AES include serving as Chair of the AES Japan Section (2009–2010), a Governor (2017–2018), and his current position as Vice President for the Asia-Pacific region. Within the ASJ, he serves as a Councilor, an Editorial Member, and Vice Chair of the Research Committee on High-Reality Audio.
